Nannys would you work a 40 hour week caring for two children (2 and 6 month old baby) and then for 2 hours after school, a 5 year old) live out, central London, for gross £30,500 a year, net £23,828

No because I would not work in central London.

Don't think that is what you are asking though, I think you want to know if the pay level is reasonable. It may well be reasonable, it would depend what other jobs in the area are paying.

How have you calculated £30,500? It does not divide nicely by 40 hours per week, seems to come out around £14.66

Flamingchips · 06/01/2019 22:41

Is it actually a 50 hour week - I read it as 40 hours with 2 kids then an additional 2 each day with 5 yo?

My cousin is a live in nanny Monday-Friday and gets £35000 a year in central London. She has a lovely apartment on the top floor of the family home, She also gets use of a car, has gym membership, expenses etc.... it all depends on the overall package and the Nanny's experience but I'd say the salary is a little on the low side personally - the salary isn't much to live on in London.

Hi Everyone,

Wondered if there was any nannys/employers who could me their advice/opinion.
I have been a private nanny for 5 years with the same family B4 G8.
At some point last year I had agreed to have another child G8 (family friend & also same school) for some morning school runs and ad/hoc days during half terms.
We discussed an amount I'd be paid hourly on top of my usual pay and this will be paid cash in hand.
Then from I'd say September last year I started to have the other child B3 (sibling to the G8) ad/hoc days while my original B4 was at nursery. Payment wasn't discussed however i thought the same would imply as before with the sibling.
Have now been told that they see fit that I dont get paid for the extra care of these two children because of their ages and with my G4 being at nursery.
Also may I had i hadnt been paid for the adhoc days since mid last year hence why it was mentioned and only now i have been told I won't be getting paid.
Thoughts please?

Not cool but you’d be better posting your own thread. Why did you let it go so long without pay ?!

Itsallwhite · 08/02/2019 15:35

That is low in my opinion

Bigonesmallone3 · 08/02/2019 15:36

Seems very low..

MolyHolyGuacamole · 09/02/2019 22:13

I worked that out as 11.45 nph which is good to me? Seeing as standard nanny rates are 11nph

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2019 14:45

Assuming that 4 x 10hr day and 330/5 or 4/6also a 5yr

Over 11nett tho obv we don’t speak of nett

£14.60 gross

Seems ok to me

Cora1942 · 11/02/2019 15:18

You need to be clearer on total hours you are working for gross £30500.
Seems good for 40 hours, possibly low for 50 hours. But depends on area and your experience.
