Hi Eleusis,

I am interviewing for the first time various nannies this week. I believe I've done my research and compile a list of questions from various sources while doing this I remembered that you mentioned you had a good list of questions which I would be very grateful if you could share with me.

A super thanks!

saw your message and thought I would add this -
this list was sent to me when I was first interviewing a nanny and has come in very handy since -

Suggested interview questions -
Professional -
What is your training? - where, do you have your certificate
If not, in which job did you learn about looking after children? - Tell me about it.
What do you most enjoy about looking after children and what age range have you experienced?
What do you like/dislike most in last job - tell me about that job and why you are leaving.
How do you think your last employer would describe you?
What interests you about this job?
How would you entertain on a daily basis/ cold, wet day?
Could you help my child with potty training/weaning, table manners etc
Are you trained in first aid - what crises have you ever had to deal with and how did that go?
What are safety hazards for my aged children?
What are your views on discipline?
What household tasks are you prepared to do?
Do you know this area/ have nanny friends in in the area?
Would you be interested in babysitting/ weekend work/ holidaying with family?

Personal -
Tell me about your family life, siblings, growing up, school etc
What do you do for entertainment in the evening?
If you are a live-out - how long is your commute?
Describe your ambitions/ where will you be in 5 yrs?
Do you drive/smoke/ been in an accident/ convicted?
Can you swim/ play an instrument?
Are you creative/ good with animals(pets)?
Are you in good health/ have allergies/ take medication regularly?
Can you cook/ will you cook for children/ have dietary requirements?
Do you have any dependants?
Do you have any holidays booked?

This is not an exhaustive list, but I did find that it helped enormously - HTH
