After school nanny / housekeeper - where to find/advertise?

Hi

We currently have an after school nanny who will be going back to her home country in September.

I work 2.5 days a week and in September , our dc will be nearly 13 and 9. Both have activities and playdates after school and we're realising that we are likely to need more of a housekeeper/ reassuring presence in the house - preferably with a car! - than a nanny but not really sure how to go about finding one.

We are aware the hours are difficult - we pay £12 per hour with contract/paid hols etc - but not sure where to advertise to find someone who would want this sort of work - when I'm not here picking up youngest from school/taking to activities/supervising playdates and when I'm at home cooking/ light housework/tidying/ local food shopping...

Any thoughts/advice appreciated. Planning well in advance as took ages to find current after school nanny.

I advertised online for a housekeeper. Have you tried looking online for childcare or not? Our current nanny was hired through their website. Be sure to ask questions at the interview and insist on safety checks being carried out as well. My decision was partly based on observation.

Hi - thanks yes tried childcare,co,uk but no good as people seemed to want to be nannies. I think as the boys are getting older with more activities and playdates and becoming more and more independent, we probably need an older person who keeps the house running, cooks them dinner and is a reassuring presence in the home and can attend to their needs when necessary rather than actively look after them iykwim.

I suppose I could look on gumtree?
