Is it ever appropriate to ask an au pair to take your child to the GP?

But most specifically, for an administrative appointment? The au pair could dial the parents in.

I wouldn't.

Are her language skills good enough? Would you want her making medical decisions for your child? What if something serious is discovered? What if your child becomes very distressed?

At my surgery the parent/guardian would also have to fill in a "Permission to accompany a minor" form.

I think a GP might be a bit pissed off with appointment time being taken up whilst she faffs around trying to dial you in.

Language skills are good. I didn't know about that form. The phone call could be a faff, yes.

I have asked my au pair before for a reoccurring fever for ds because I had taken so much time off work I couldn’t take anymore. Doctor didn’t like it but accepted it.
