Hi all,

I am starting up my own childminding business but am really struggling to decide on a business name. Can anyone help with ideas?

My first name is Paris

Thanks :-)

Nothing too silly, its off-putting. Most people will refer to you by your actual name anyway so you only really need it for paperwork. I'd go with something that sounds caring, as this can reassure parents that you are a nice person. Think of nice words like: nest, tots, friends, rainbow!

Just use your name in the format: "Paris Surname, Childminder".

Those made-up business names are an unnecessary complication and invariably sound twee and tacky. Putting your own name to it suggests straightforward honesty and trust.

Agree you should just use your name plus child minding or childcare. As an individual childcare provider, to me it comes across a bit naff to have some cutesy business name that is more commonly found with nursery settings. I think it also looks more professional using your actual name and avoids confusion with potential clients who will only be dealing with you and referring to you by name.

I just had my name Childcare when I was childminding. Agree it keeps things simple, all the others blend into one when the names are too twee.

Loads of my childminder friends have names for their business, but I haven’t got a clue which business is owned by which person. If I’m refering to one of them I just say: Alison the childminder or the childminder from this estate, called Gail. I wouldn’t say ‘the owner of honeybuns’ as lots of parents wouldn’t know who I was on about, they would only know the name of the childminder not the business name.
