Is 3.5 too young for an au pair to care for?

I'm looking into the option of an au pair to help out with my daughter, who would be 3.5 by then. I also have a baby who will be 1 and I will put him into nursery as I think it's too much to expect an au pair to cope with a baby.

Is 3.5 too young too? I would need her to do wraparound care for preschool for the summer term (so outside of 9 to 3, and one afternoon, four days only) and then some full days of childcare over the summer.

I think that would be fine, lots of au pairs like looking after that age group. We successfully had an au pair from when my daughter was about the same age.
Check your hours though, more than about 30 is bit much and they can quickly feel aggrieved.

Absolutely fine. My first au pair was for my 2 and 4 year old (both at nursery).
