Childminder is very lovely but one thing is bothering me

The childminder who my DS is with at the moment is wonderful. She's very kind, very attentive and experienced woman who has done it for many years. One thing I have noticed though is that her kitchen is absolutely filthy. I mean her cooker could do with a really good clean (there is a film of oil with dust and other things stuck to it, you can tell it has not been cleaned for a very long time), and she's also got an Acti-fry on the side that's also covered in oil and just a lot of other stuff.. it just looks very unclean! It is a shock to me because I keep things very clean in my house so I can spot anything dirty from a mile off! Would you let this be off putting? Probably me sounding snobby (I'm definitely not!)

AFAIK the star rating system was dropped a couple of years back, at least in the sense that they stopped giving out the certificate and window sticker. That said, neither EHOs nor the FSA appear to be making anyone remove the old certificates/stickers. I can’t say for sure whether this is a national or a local thing.

Personally (I’m a childminder) my kitchen looks tidy but there is grime here and there (talking about windowsills, walls at the top, kick boards) Preparation surfaces are clean though. Sometimes cooker surface can be grimy for a cpl of days (I don’t clean that every day, maybe once or twice a week unless there’s an actual spillage)

I do think if any childminders is tidy and spotless on collection they are very unlikely to have been doing anything with the children or they have been out from drop off to pick up time.
