Well hello, ya'll.. we are back as of yesterday, took the red eye home, feel like dog doo warmed over. Not a good look, but faking it well.

Dh and dc are all still sleeping

Update me on the big stuff, not sure I can wade through the old stuff for a while, no time!

Good morning, pleased to see you back, I was due to lose internet connection yesterday but its still here so im not sure whats going on but im chuffed! I've got a new family coming to see me today so fingers crossed please!! We get the keys to our new house tomorrow so the next few nights are going to be hard work trying to get it decorated whilst working in the day, we move at the weekend! Got next week off

Did you have a good time?

Katymac · 05/06/2007 08:13

Morning all

crace · 05/06/2007 08:31

Heya LMG - fingers crossed a million times for you. Good luck!

I had a fab time, super homesick - Dh has a possible job offer in NYC that we heard about (within group that he works for) and waiting to see what happens this week. Chances are nothing comes of it, but now part of me is kind of hoping.. I like it here, a lot, and I was really taken back by the waste etc. The Green movement there is really slow in happening by UK standards for example and Free range meat is impossible to find, so not sure what I would do about that since that is very important to me! Anyway, not a done deal but have it my mind now as a possibility

Still here then LMG! At least you'll be able to up-date us on todays family! You watch, it'll go off right in the middle of your post and we'll have to wait til next week!
Hi Crace! Good trip? I don't think you missed much last week. Not in the staff room anyway. It was really quiet. Everyone was too busy keeping bored kids happy since it rained most of last week.
Phase 2 of 10 on our extension is almost complete. Small problem though, dh plugged the fuse in for the lights and it keeps blowing. I am reliably informed that that means there is a problem ABOVE the new plastering! I'd blame the electrician and go ballistic, however, its DH! He's beating himself up about it already.

Katymac · 05/06/2007 10:28

Hopefully he put all the cables in a conduit so will be able to check and change them with out affecting the plaster??(fingers crossed)

If LMG goes quiet we will know she has gone

MaureenMLove · 05/06/2007 10:35

Sadly not Katy, he's got to make a hole in the plaster! He is sooo gutted. Its one of those unbelievably unlucky things. He's been a electrician for near on 20 years and can't re-call the last time he did something so stupid. Still, we've waited about 5 years for the extension to be done, so another couple of weeks won't hurt!

Katymac · 05/06/2007 10:40

bet he is kicking himself - which is prob much more effective than you kicking him

LoveMyGirls · 05/06/2007 11:54

Morning (just about) today has been a bad morning, couldn't find dd2's other shoe, had to go to town so were late for toddlers then that was going ok until mindee decided to bite a new girl i put him in the pushchair until we went home (about 10mins) so he hasn't been very good today , they're both just eating pudding then it will be changed and bed for them both while this lady comes, fingers crossed for me still!!!!!!!!

KM - deffo right about if i go quiet

looneytune · 05/06/2007 12:16

Good luck mate, tell us all about it after - text if you loose the net!

crace · 05/06/2007 12:19

MML - oh no! Hopefully it's not that much work, re plastering is a bear at the best of times.

Exhausted today bit just mindee 1 until 1pm and then off but dd is already napping so unless she does a pm one then I am stuffed

Dh home with an infection on his face that he mysteriously picked up while in the states. All fun and games here today!

{lmg throws major strop, arms and legs going, loud screaming and everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!}

shes not coming til tomorrow now! DOH! The house is tidy and kids are sleeping as well!

fifilou · 05/06/2007 12:25

hello!

kettle on?

Im feeling pretty rubbish today. I worked until gone midnight last night, then after my journey home, i was about 1am into bed. Im up at 6 ready to come back to work this morning and am shattered! I think its a bit out of order to stay out so late on a week night dont you?

am i moaning over nothing? I just feel a bit crap because im so tired, ive worked so hard lately im drained. my dh and i have been working on our new house constantly at wknds and i feel like ive not rested up for weeks!

the cleaner has gone off to get married so im doing maor tidying cleaning (not supposed to) and extra bits. here is my onle escape! grrrrrrrr!

oooh. that feels better.

LoveMyGirls · 05/06/2007 12:25

Crace, cant your dh watch dd while you have a nap? I know he's got an infection on his face but how would that stop him from watchign her just for a hour or so ?

LoveMyGirls · 05/06/2007 12:27

fifi i wouldnt clean if the cleaner is off they should get a replacement or do it themselves unless they are giving you her wages too?

Yes 1am is late on a work night and not very fair

The house is hard work now but when it s all done it will be worth it and you can enjoy it - this what i keep repeating to myself

fifilou · 05/06/2007 12:32

they are being very sweet about it ( the cleaning) which makes it hard not to help out. They have a replacemnet but she did an hour on monday (awful job too!) and is doing an hour on friday!

They are a pretty messy family which i dont mind, its there home after all, they never insist on it being clean and tidy but i cant stand mess amd disorganisation!

I havent had a chance to talk to them about last night either as i did the early school run today.

Im just tired i guess. It always seems worse when youre tired!!!!
Im contracted to do two inclusoive nights a month babysit, but extra pay after 11pm. I havent been paid for the extra last night, and i hate asking for it!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. I need chocolate.

LoveMyGirls · 05/06/2007 12:37

You need chocolate and a sit down with your "bosses" it's unfair of them to come back that late when they also expect you to do the school run, say from now on if they want you to carry on doing it then they need to be back at a reasonable time - 11.30 is late enough on a week night imo, definately request the money they owe you aswell.

You could try (depending how well you get on with them/ how approachable they are) sitting down and explaining that you are feeling tired etc perhaps request a few days holiday? See if you can work something out at least while you are doing the house?

fifilou · 05/06/2007 12:41

I'd thought about offerring to do the cleanig for extra pay while the cleaner is away, that way it gets done and i dont feel like im doing it for nothing.

They are so lovely though, that i hate rasing any issues! i asked for a meeting 3 weeks ago to talk over some things with them and am still waiting! I appreciate that they are very very busy people, but its important to talk. Ive now asked for a 'chat' as we always call it, every other day in the diary!

I feel awful moaning about it when i shouldnt really. I get paid really well, and treated pretty well most of the time, its just occasionaly they take the mick. (actually dad does, not mum) he is often late, only 5 mins or so, but im live out and thise are MY 5 mins, and by the time ive done my goodbyes its more like 15 mins.

god im such a moaner, ive got it pretty good and should just get on with it!

fifilou · 05/06/2007 12:52

I'm off now for a bit of sunshine and some lunch, then its on with my jobs! Yay!

roll on the wknd!

crace · 05/06/2007 12:58

Fifi, definitely ask for the extra pay for cleaning. It helps you both out, particularly as you will be doing it anyway for sanity sakes!

LMG - if I am desperate he will but he's working from home today and on phone constantly with dd (18mo) teething pretty badly and OF COURSE only wants mummy. Sigh - it's just no good being wanted

thanks crace.

have just emailed her my idea! seems the only way of contact these days!

LoveMyGirls · 05/06/2007 13:03

Good for you for doing something about it, i love email (what am i going to do without my internet. counting down the hours til its gone!!)

MaureenMLove · 05/06/2007 13:28

I've just done something really silly! I was feeding mindee jar of apple mushy thing and as I don't like wasting anything, I was getting the spoon right up and under the rim of the jar. Where upon the spoon flicked out (forgot it was a bendy baby one!) and splattered apple up the wall, on the laptop, my glasses and my hair! Mindee thought it was funny though!
LMG, when will you be back online?
