Help with what I'm entitled to

This is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone could help me with some advice on help to support me and my 5 week old baby.

I am a stay at home mom (left a stressful job to start a family). But found my husband cheating when I was 8 months pregnant. I live in his house, he pays the bills but I am a housewife and look after his children from a previous relationship. We are married.

Due to this happening so close to the birth of our daughter, i have remained in the marital home. I feel trapped that I can't leave as I don't earn my own money.

I don't have much family nearby and feel at a loss as to what to do. I never wanted to live on benefits but this situation has been forced upon me. I intended to find a job (albeit part time) when my daughter was around a year old.

Can anyone offer advice on what help I could receive and how to apply for it

You are married so that gives you some protection. First of all go and see a solicitor who specialises in family law, take all information you can, copies of bank statements, your husbands payslips, any other financial information you have in the house. If you can't take the originals take photos of them and email them to yourself on an account you've set up which he has no access to. Second, make an appointment with Citizens Advice who will be able to go through what benefits you would be entitled to when you leave. You will also be entitled to maintenance for your baby.
