Au pair pay and travel card - london

Hello

Looking to hire my first au pair for a while and was just wondering what the general rate is in London atm. Would be for standard hours ( 4 days before and after school drop off and pick up and one night babysitting).

In particular wondering about how much towards a travel card people offer?

Many thanks!

Hi there,

I'd recommend £100/week for an au pair in London which is what I pay for similar hours and wrap around care.

I don't provide any money for a travel card but my sons school is in walking distance so no public transport required for the job.

My sister in law in London pays less pocket money but adds a weekly bus pass on top of the package because her kids need to get the bus to school.

From reading the other thread, things have changed a lot since Christmas. I'd start around that figure and if you don't have much luck then increase it slightly to see if that generates more interest.

Thanks - yes there really aren’t that many au pairs out there atm.

I have however found one lovely girl so there are some
