LMG - yes, definitely - worth a shot!

Mindee all gone, just a snotty moody 17 mo dd to deal with [hmm}

fifilou · 21/05/2007 13:31

hi everyone!

fifi here! just back form a school trip and boy do i need a cuppa!

anyone got the kettle on?

LoveMyGirls · 21/05/2007 13:47

I have, I'm sooooo annoyed, I don't want to be but I am, I'm all tense, so wound up my shoulder hurts.

Little houdini woke as his mum arrived and screamed the place down and woke dd2 (he's done this everyday since i've had him) if dd2 doesnt have enough sleep she is miserable as sin and i've got a lady coming this afternoon so i need her to be good (usually very chilled and well behaved as long as shes had enough sleep) so im here about to have a cuppa praying to god she goes bk to sleep for another 30mins or so!

I think we've got to have the dummy back, get him sleeping in cot or pushchair and have a later pick up or i get him ready before she comes (as he kciks off when mum is here) or or or i don't know! He's not 2 yet, he has no idea why he's suddenly not allowed his dummy, hes not been with me for the past 4 days and he only started 2 weeks ago, how can they possibly think now is a good time to take his dummy away?

dmo · 21/05/2007 13:50

tuesday - picnic in the park then onto preston north end football museum (lots going on in half term week)
wednesday - play at mine a.m
then going to ramp city (skate boarding)(only got 4 older children in the afternoon)
thursday - glass painting at museum then McDonalds
friday - prestons docks, look at boats have picnic go for an ice-cream

looneytune · 21/05/2007 13:52

Now is a good time to take dummy away because YOU are the one who has to deal with him!!!

bonkerz · 21/05/2007 13:53

Can i have a cuppa please? am i welcome???? Held a 4lb baby today!!! Am totally broody !

LoveMyGirls · 21/05/2007 13:56

Hi Bonkerz come and keep me sane. Dd2 is still murmuring but i'm hoping she will go back off.

Here's your cuppa, sugars on the side and theres some biscuits too

bonkerz · 21/05/2007 14:00

well i dont normally partake in chocolate so early in the day but thanks.

I know the feeling some days although at minute my stress is from my own DS and not mindees. Peaceful as can be here as 2 mindees both fast asleep. Usually get them up at 2 but hey they need another 20 minutes i think! Busy weekend and all!!!!

LoveMyGirls · 21/05/2007 14:05

Dd2 has not gone back off to sleep, the pain in my shoulder is insane - all from being wound up i need to book a proper massage asap i think!

We're due to move house in 3 weeks so that's stresful enough, without having a new starter and another 1 probably starting tomorrow but hey without new 1's I'd have to get another job on the side and i certainly don't have time for that nor do i want to plus I wouldn't have the money for the extra rent so i guess i'll have to crack on !

bonkerz · 21/05/2007 14:06

Who said childminding was easy hey?!!!!

crace · 21/05/2007 14:24

Ok, how do I get out this one?

I had a mum ring up for school holiday and summer holiday only, just one day a week?

So every half term one day, Summer hols one day per week.

I would rather not, frankly - as it it's 2 children (4 years and 7 years) and it would take up a space if anyone wanted full time, and this is just one day over holidays only!

I have a mum who is going back to work in August, maybe part time, maybe project work (one week on, one week off sort of deal) so that's bit up in the air too.

So.. what do I do?

LoveMyGirls · 21/05/2007 14:46

I probably wouldnt do the 1 day a week unless you are short of money and don't think you will egt anyone else to fill the space?

The bk to work in aug one, i'd see what she wants to do and if you don't get anything in the meantime give her what she needs until something more stable comes along, unless she is willing to pay you a set ammount every week regardless of using the hours?

crace · 21/05/2007 14:51

Well if she went back set hours, then definitely but she thinks it will be project work - but there isn't anything else in the pipeline other than this one day.

She is coming to see me on Weds (the one dayer) - how do I let her down gently without seeming like the money grabbing, greedy grumps I am?

LoveMyGirls · 21/05/2007 14:53

Can't you say you had an enquirey for someone wanting 3 days and you think you will go with that?

LoveMyGirls · 21/05/2007 14:54

(not saying you're not fab) BUT the 1 dayer might not come back to you anyway? So no need to worry or she may decide she wants more?

MaureenMLove · 21/05/2007 15:03

I'm done! Well until 4.30, then I have to do my Guiding bit and be a Rainbow Guider! I've had a really, really good day today what with mindee1 actually talking to me! Told mum about it and she was happy too. Aparently she always talks about me at home and how she likes coming here, just wish she had told me that before today! Still wasn't keen to say goodbye and she doesn't to anyone aparently. She got in the car and I shouted goodbye and she WAVED! In fact she waved and waved and shouted goodbye! So I started blowing kisses and she did that too! So happy, want her to come back tomorrow now!
DMO - did you have a good day yesterday - Radio 1 thingy wasn't it?

Shosable - is this some secret potty training trick

If so I need it as I am potty training 4 atm

EvilSmellingBugger · 21/05/2007 16:05

Napping now, should remain dry - usually does.
Travel potty waiting for me from freecycle
been a day of asking if he needs a wee then getting the response of 'no wee, no poo' and shaking of his head

Shoshable · 21/05/2007 16:15

Katy it just a way Ive been doing it, dont know if you could as you have a bigger setting, involves no clothes at the bottom for a few days.
But if you can try this

POTTY TRAINING

Day 1 - 3 no clothes, ask if they want the potty, at least every 1/2 hour. Expect lots of accidents.

Day 4-7 Providing child is now making it to the potty, pants on, still reminding, first couple of days will result in wet pants, but by day 7, usually making it to the potty.

Day 7 onwards trousers on as well, still asking often, take potty EVERYWHERE with you.

If this doesn't work, would say the child isn't ready. Have done it with children from 20 months - 4 years, they are ready when they are ready, boys in general are later than girls, but saying that just had a boy dry at 22 months and a girl not till almost 4. !

Katymac · 21/05/2007 16:20

Pretty much what we are doing for 2 - so we will see (boys of 3y4m)

Other 2 in pull ups (which I don't approve of) - so I recon we will have no joy there then

Shoshable · 21/05/2007 16:28

Nope pull ups are the worst thing possible what a waste of money they just see them as nappies. Thay never fit either, they always fall down, useless bloddy things. (Can you tell they re a pet hate)

OP posts:
dmo · 21/05/2007 17:30

radio 1 was fantastic
felt 21 again

mogs0 · 21/05/2007 17:56

I hate pullups too!! Mindee1 has been wearing them since his 1st birthday coz Mum thought they were easier to put on him than a nappy . Problem is they ALWAYS fall down and make a TERRIBLE mess!

Bonkerz- Wow, 4lb baby must have been tiny!!

I had a power cut on the weekend and had no electric all day Saturday and it only came back on Sunday morning. I hadn't realised how much everything I use needs electric!!

We ended up out in the park nearly all day Saturday and most of Sunday too. Don't feel like I had much of a relaxing weekend. But hey, it could have been raining, that'd have really p*ss'd me off!!
