Has anyone used sitters.co.uk on South London

Hey, my first post!

I'm really nervous about using someone I don't know but am desperate for a sitter for next week, DH is abroad and my friends are away and my family non existent. Does anyone have any experience with sitters.co.uk ? I've hardly ever left my 2 yr old DS with anyone for more than a few hours and that's always been close friends.

Yes! We do. If we'd not found sitters then our social lives would be very limited with no family near by and friends who we socialise with We've had something in the region of 12 different sitters over a period of 4 years, some who come regularly, and only one we didn't like. There was nothing awful but my husband and I felt a bit uncomfortable. But every other lady has been gorgeous. They have to show you their ID badge when they arrive and all seem to have work experience in childcare of some sort/are teachers. They have a rigorous vetting process too- a friend of mine sits for them so she was able to fill me in on what sitters have to do to work for the agency. Good luck!

And welcome to Mumsnet!

Oh great, you've put my mind at ease, I'll need to persuade DH it's all kosher before I book so all evidence it's above board is brilliant, your response is much appreciated, thanks again! X

We used them when DS was little. Felt weird the first time, but we found them really good.

Noqonterf · 04/04/2018 22:38

Yes I use them quite a bit. They've been fine.

AJPTaylor · 04/04/2018 22:40

Yep used them loads. Never had a bad one!

Almahart · 04/04/2018 22:43

We’ve used them (London but not south) and they have all been brilliant. The very first sitter we had was a foster carer for children with life limiting conditions. Honestly she was the most amazing wonan. She had my kids eating out of her hand within five minutes

I'm in SE London and I haven't used sitters.co.uk but I have used the Bubble app twice for babysitters. Both were excellent and had loads of good reviews. DS is only 13 weeks old so I was v nervous (we just went for dinner down the road) but I didn't need to be. Would recommend that if sitters.co.uk doesn't work out.

We are in London and have used sitters for a few years, and now have started to use bubble. I actually prefer bubble tbh as I find it’s easier but we have not had one bad experience with sitters over the years.

Yes used for first time and will definitely use again. Very professional and reassuring contact before and afterwards .

Yes, used sitters loads in SE London and always been happy - we have a regular 2 or 3 now we use, but every one has been good.
