does anyone know of any grants i can apply for to help with my start up costs. Have been registered for a week now and everything is ready, but could do with some more toys and need some extra storage. Also back garden isn't registered yet as need some secure drive gates and is going to cost me a fortune. Would like the garden registered for the summer, Didn't qualify for the sure start grant as don't live in the right areas. Have already done everthing inside and is all safe and secure and have already spent loads. Just wondering if can apply for anything from anywhere else.

if your in wales then u get a grant from the welsh esembely like I did but you have to provide all receipts of purchase so basically spend the cash first. Not sure for england and scotland tho hun

Don't know anything about grants, but just thought I'd say not to buy any toys for specific age groups unless you have a mindee of that age. There's no point in buying rattles if your mindee is 3!!

im in longlands, longlands isnt actually a surestart area, but because all the surrounding areas are(north ormesbay/berwick hills etc) i got LOTS of help...did you do your training with sure start/child care plus in town? if you ring them on 01642 354200 and ask to speak to Debbie Lancaster she will be able to advize you, alternativly, ask to be put through to or get the number of Brian Bibby(ive forgot his number, starts the same tho?), he gave me a huge list ofpeople offering funding, my main contact to get the grants was through brian and a comapny called Walker Hall associates in mbro town centre(behind bus station), i dont have his number to hand, but call them, speak to ANDY FAY, tell him i recommended him to you(joe Gowland-Sweetpeas Childminding), he was great, set up my business plan, got me reductions, offers, can send someone round to help with tax and so on, i got to walker hall tthrough Brian and also business link teesside, you can reg online with them and they will search for people giving out grants too!

Another fab tip too, is ring Sarah in the Toy Library(whinny banks early excellence centre) on 354303(IIRC?), i have hired double buggies/travel cots/toys..you can loan just about practiacally anything from them and all for just 50p per item for 6 weeks!that gos for the double buggys too!again if you tell her i recommended them as its nice to know people are happy with their service...wil try and think of other things for you...if nothing else you SHOULD get a start up grant of £250 from surestart? and childcare plus DO normally pay for you ncma registration and insurance?

PinkChick · 30/04/2007 14:19

Rang surestart and they said i could not get any grant, will try Brian Bibby and Walker Hall aswell thanks a lot pinkChick will try surestart again as have already paid for my NCMA stuff £155.90 in total. Could really do with some help with other costs, cheers.
