Childminder - Ofsted Registration

Hi All - I am new to the MN boards and was hoping to get some advice!
I am just about to start my twin 10 month old daughters with a local childminder. She has provided me with an 'Ofsted Certificate of Registration' document that details a registration number however when I have gone to the Oftsed website to look at the last inspection report by entering the registration number I can't find it.
So I am wondering if I am looking in the wrong place......the doc was issued in 28/2/14 so I am wondering if her registration has lapsed.
TIA for help!
p.s. this is all such a minefield - there has to be an easier way for parents to conduct check on childcare providers....

Hi OP, I don't know why this happens but mine doesn't show up either, or my partners Sad
If you want to check that she is definitely Ofsted Registered you can give your local council a call and they will be able to verify it for you. If you wanted to see inspection reports then type her name and 'childminder Ofsted inspection' into google. If nothing relevant comes up, then she has obviously decided not to have her report posted online.

You use reports.ofsted.gov.uk and enter in the URN
The next page shows you the provider and there are two tabs, one says Operating Providers and the other says All Providers. The Operating Providers tab is selected by default, so if the childminder is shown below the tab, then they are fully registered.

Some reports are removed from the system after a period of time, so it might be simply that the system is no longer showing it.

You should be able to see from the reports site the date of registration under the View Provider Details part.

Ofsted are currently doing a survey of website visitors, so if you get the popout box when visiting their site, do fill in the quick survey and you could even volunteer to be contacted for a more indepth discussion about what you would want to see on the new website they are developing.

Even doing it the way nannynick states nothing shows up for me.
If she was only registered in 2014 then it is likely she hasn't had an inspection yet, in which case there will be nothing to find.

Snap8TheCat · 12/09/2017 21:23

If she was registered in Feb 2014 then she will have had her first inspection. They aim to be completed between 6-36 months of registration.

I looked recently for a local woman I don't believe is registered and I can't find her either. Maybe she is but just not showing...

Doglikeafox · 13/09/2017 06:57

That is what they aim for Snap but there are plenty of exceptions to the rule.

I hope she has been inspected since Feb 2014- I've been done twice in that time! (Good both times so not because of a bad grading).

Call Ofsted and say you cant find the number on the website they will confirm registration....and will need to know if she is no longer registered and working.

If she was inspected in 2014 she may well not have had a second inspection yet the cycle runs for 3 or 4 years then restarts when they start a new cycle it is random who is done first out of the goods some may be redone after a year others may wait 3. My last inspection was 5 years. But if there are concerns complaints or lower grading's they do you as a priority.
