Does anyone just have school age children. if so is it financially worth it. What do you do with school age children particularly in the holidays. What would you charge for a full day in the hols. regards

thanks for your response. Wow thats fantastic - what activities do you do with your school age children - do you do themes with them or crafts or anything - the two girls i have don't seem to want to do anything - everything is BORING to them and i'm getting fed up of it.

I have lots of schoolies and don't childmind under 3s....wish I made as much as mykidz tho! (low hourly rate around here) But I do well from it and it means I have most of my days free for my little boy. Usually work 6/6.30-8am and 3-7/8.30pm tho and two afternoons with 3yr old mindee - oh and all day saturday!

I do a planned activity each day as well as offering my usual toys, craft stuff, etc. Will usually do one day baking, one day art, one day craft, one day outing (park/library/museum),etc. I do this as it means I offer a unique service in my area and sell to parents that I only look after over 3's.

I think it depends on what you enjoy - some people love to look after littlies don't enjoy schoolies and vice versa! Also what suits your family, I enjoy all ages but choose to take on over 3's after having a high demand baby who was used to being carried around and fed on jars of baby puddings only.! Needless to say I was stressed, mindees suffered, ds was very upset and we all had headaches!

Anyway I have waffled.......

i also earn mosr of my money from school children
in term time i earn £3.20 per hr (just gone up) i dont really plan activitys i just let them please themselves usally they play out, play on PC, draw, play with the toys i have out, do their homework

in the hols i charge £22 per day and i borrow the school mini bus and we go out, the children also put money to the days out and bring pocket money and a packed lunch.
i decide about 2 wks b4 school hols where we are going and print a timetable up for the parents telling them where we are going and what the child needs for example:

this easter hols i am only working 4 days as i am having a week off
bank hol monday closed
tuesday - Farm - need packed lunch, £4 towards entrance and ice- cream money
wednesday-beach - need packed lunch, ball, clean socks, ice-cream money
thursday- ice skating - need packed lunch, gloves, long pants, £4 towards entrance
friday a.m - tile painting - need packed lunch, £1 towards materals
friday p.m - swimming - need swim stuff, £2 towards entrance
