Childminder ratios

Hi, please can someone advise. Per ofsted a childminder can look after 6 children under 8. Does this mean up to and including age 8? So does an 8 year old get included in the 6 children ratio?
I've always understood this as only children up to age 7 are included in the ratios, but now looking at it again I'm confused.

Once a child is aged 8 (so on the day of their 8th Birthday, or if you really want to be safe, the day after) then they are no longer in the Early Years ratio.

The Early Years ratio is up to the time a child starts full time school but yes the total number of children under 8 is six and once they turn 8 they become an 'over 8'. This is all assuming you have enough floor space as per the framework.

And you can only do this if the care of the unders is not negatively effected and you are able to meet all the EYFS standards....as well as any limit put on by your insurance.
