NCMA Conference

Was looking at last years in Who Minds magazine and would like to go this year. (It's on 9-11th Nov this year in Torquay).

Has anyone on mn been to one before or is planning on going this year? What time on the Friday does it usually all start? Just wondering as will have to travel down. Also do most people take kids or go alone? If you take kids is there a creche or something???

no idea but would like to go to one, is that only one or are they regional?, im in teesside?

It is one big national get together, in different city each year. We could have a mn cm club meet up if a few of us go!

..no way i could get there..would love to have gone tho.

It is always good at Torquay, I've been twice to Torquay, but 5 conferences in all.

I will miss this one as I will be staying at Rick Steins's hotel as it is my 50th birthday and silver wedding anniversary!

I have been to 3 altogether, Blackpool 2001, Torquay 2005 and Liverpool 2006. They really are excellent weekends and well worth going to IMO. You sort od alternate between feeling that childminding is the most worthwhile job in the world, and feeling like a teenager again away with loads for likeminded girlfriends !
They start at about 7.30 on the Friday evening with a drinks reception and welcome from the local mayor, then everyone makes their own arrangements for dinner in small groups. Proper start is on Saturday morning, finishing Sunday lunchtime. Some people take children and there is a creche and a childrens party, but I think most people like to have a totally child-free weekend to be honest. There is a serious amount of talking!!!
