Preparing for new au pair?

Hello!
Our first au pair is arriving (hopefully!) this month.
What should we do to prepare? What to you do to welcome an au pair? Do you buy them toiletries etc?? Do you do a list of local info or anything?

Thank you?

I put flowers and a few toiletries in their room. I then have a folder which has my au pair bible in it (so has house rules, list of how to clean things properly, instructions for using the washing machine/diswasher/alarm, safety tips for when you're around children). In that I also put an oyster card, train and bus timetable, list of places to go locally, a highway code, A to Z of London and we have a London sightseeing guide.

We don't usually buy toiletries, but its a nice thing to do when they arrive.

Hope it all goes well!
