CMs with assistants- any tips?

From September I'm looking at registering my DH as an assistant. He's a shift worker so would be useful to increase my number by 1 on occasion (ad hoc).

What advice can you give me? Anything I need to make sure I do? Obviously I won't be paying him but can I still put through his first aid costs through my books for example?

Anything you think I should know? Wish you had sorted at the start? Any other tips?

Employers liability insurance, even though he's a volunteer. He obviously has his dbs already. Yes, you can put expenses for his first aid etc down as business costs.

Thank you!

I think I need to add him to the register when he's 'working' don't i?

Does he need to do safeguarding? Is online good enough?

Permissions from parents to leave them whilst I go on school run? Or for him to do the school run and collect from school?
