i would charge if i was to drop of a mindee at nursery/pre school then collect in 2 1/2 hours for the whole day, as you cannot fill thier space for 2 hours and you are actually waiting for the time you have to collect them again.

i wouldnt charge for a child in full time schooling, just drop off and collecting UNLESS i was expected to be the main contact for school, then i would only charge a small amount, say a percent of hourly fee per hour, or a few quid on top of norm each day?

i take children term time or holiday time and i dont charge a retainer for eirther as i cant offer the term time only child the same hours in the hols as i have holiday children (hope you understand)

got a 3yr old starting soon and mum want me to pick him up from pre-school at 11.30am and have him until 5pm so she is paying me for the full day as she needs me for full days in the hols

the downside to cm is that i book 4 weeks off a yr and always book my time off in the school hols when my own ds's are off

Great info Shosha... in which Handbook did you spot that gem? Always good to have a source for this kind of info. I do wonder how many Ofsted inspectors know it though - as I've not seen it come up as an issue in reports before.
