Nanny Agency Fees

Any ballpark figure for how much the fee is for an agency to find a nanny? 1 month's salary? I'm struggling to find anyone we love on Childcare.co.uk and considering going down this route... but will struggle to find more than £500.

An advert on nanny job would be worthwhile before going down the agency route especially when you read most agency T&C....but yes a months salary is usual.

Thanks - 2 years ago, we found childcare.co.uk great and nannyjob.co.uk a bit pants, but perhaps things have changed.

Where abouts are you?

WellTidy · 22/07/2016 16:47

We've just paid 11% of the annual salary plus VAT. Yikes.

nannynick · 22/07/2016 17:11

VAT is a thing to watch for, bigger agencies will be VAT registered to check if fee includes or excludes.

doctoratsea · 03/08/2016 13:35

VAT registration threshold is only £83K per annum turnover. Only the one man bands are likely to be below the VAT threshold. Especially when you consider the placement fees of most agencies, it doesn't take long to reach the VAT threshold. However, don't blame anyone for charging VAT, afterall the money just goes straight to the government. Just another nice way to collect taxes from you Smile

p.s. forgot to say maybe childcare related costs should be VAT exempt?
