one of my mindees whom i have spoke of on here before is still same as in cleanliness and hygeine despite me actually asking her mum umpteen times now to clean her nails etc...her clothes are washed as she mentioned mixing darks with lights at weekend and colours mixing, but coat, gloves, hat, scarf are always black.so..ive just chucked em in washer..am hoping duffle coat will dry by home time but what would be best to say? as shes going to notice the smell and colour of them??she fell in snow/mud?(which her dd will say no i didnt!), maybe she got food on them??

try telling her you were ashamedto take her out in her filthy coat so gave them a quick wash

TrinityRhino · 23/01/2007 14:06

rofl twig
what are you like?

Hmm tricky one, could you say you dropped her coat on a puddle or something (like when you were on your way out or in) and just chucked the other stuff in too as it needed a wash

or you could be quite straight with her but slightly nicer than twig
You could just say I saw that they needed a wash and thought I'd help you out

Miaou · 23/01/2007 14:07

I wouldn't say anything. I bet the mum doesn't even notice.

oliveoil · 23/01/2007 14:07

I would say that you were doing some washing and needed to make up a load, hope you don't mind etc etc

StrawberrySnowflakes · 23/01/2007 14:08

actually LOL Twig..yes, well hat, scarf and gloves were atually in sleeve of coat so didnt really know they were there(washed them last week!)..so could say something like i dropped them outside when we came in????

StrawberrySnowflakes · 23/01/2007 14:12

hmm OO might be best to be honest in a way that also says your dd's coat was dirty and you hadnt so i did?!..seems to be drying well so i might only bring it up if she does?..i know people must find it hard and cant all put a load of washing in cos most dont work from home but i cant understand how people dont notice the dirt?..esp on little ones

last week thought her nails had been cleaned but she had actually had her nails painted a very pale'but coverall' pink!..muck was till underneath??..youd think if there was time to do that then the muck could have been scrubbed away too?

TrinityRhino · 23/01/2007 14:34

you must tell us if she noticed or what you said to her

TrinityRhino · 23/01/2007 14:34

StrawberrySnowflakes · 23/01/2007 14:39

I would just lie this time, but in future would put her in a coat that I kept at my house so she doesnt wear her own when she is with you that you would obviously keep clean

My mother did something similar when we had an exchange student staying, when I was a teen. She arrived at our house with her clothes already dirty. My mum scooped the clothes off the floor (where the girl had unpacked them) washed and dried the clothes and then put them back on the floor in a heap!

Perhaps the child's mother won't notice!

knittingfog · 23/01/2007 14:48

Could say that it fell on the floor and got trampled on by the kids with muddy footwear on before you could get their boots/shoes off so you washed it in with the load you just happened to be doing .

StrawberrySnowflakes · 23/01/2007 14:50

because then i would basically saying you dont look after your child and i know she does but must just not have time for certain things that would be normal to me?..i would lie cos i dont want to make her feel bad, but at same time show that i noticed her dd's coat was in need of wash

OP posts:
StrawberrySnowflakes · 23/01/2007 14:52

knittingfog, that would work as they all change out of outdoor clothes in breakfast room and it gets rowdy!..but think ill keep it at she got something on it and as was putting wash in , chucked it in too..then im not lying..really
