What's the best way to find a temporary nanny?

This would probably be for a few weeks -but possibly for a few months - to cover illness.

And to add to the trickiness, we'd be looking for it to start very soon - and not tie us in to a set period, since we don't know how long it will be.

Sitters.com seems good for last-minute one-offs, but we'd really like some continuity.

Don't really want to go down the route of employing someone, so childcare.co.uk doesn't seem possible. Likewise, when I looked at agencies before they just did the screening/introductions but then you employ the nanny.

Do you get agencies where the nannies are employed by the agency? Or self-employed?

Many thanks for your help.

There are self employed nannies who just temp so would be perfect for you. Try childcare.co.uk it is for all types of childcare not just full time permenant employed nannies. Or you could put your own advert on nanny job.co.uk (do need to pay for that one but lots of nannies look at it for work) or your local netmums page.
