Hi - What do you all do regarding payment. Do you invoice prior to payment due? Then do u provide receipt? Also what do you write on invoice and how early to you give it.
I get paid weekly for one mum and she likes receipt but I've just taken on another 3 and want to know what is best!
Many Thanks

I invoice (around 20-25th month)- no receipt as I prefer chq or direct payment (no cash)

I pay nusery by monthly instalments by standing order. The only receipt I have is on my bank statement.
Would that not be better for you?

Ive always asked for cash weekly as its easy for me and my husband to manage. If I have a cheque I'll be waiting 5days for it to clear. A standard order may work tho!

I know it is recommended that we ask for payment in advance, but I never have. Therefore, I usually issue bills on a Monday for the previous week.

When a parent pays me, I will write "PAID" and the date on their copy of the bill (if they give it to me). I write the same info on my copy - I use numbered duplicate books, using one book for each family.

The only time I issue a receipt is if a parent pays me cash and I don't have immediate access to my copy of the bill, and I use a receipt book, which I can quickly fill in.

I always give receipts now; much easier to sort out if they've over/under paid.

When a new child starts, I let the parent choose whether they will pay weekly or monthly and the day or date of payment and whether they will pay by vouchers, standing order, online banking or cheque or cash. This way they should be paying me a day or two after they've been paid so no excuses!

I don't do invoices unless the parent asks or if the payments are different each time (if they have a lot of overtime or pay by the calendar month). Most parents pay me the same each week or month so don't need an invoice each time.
