Teen babysitting rates

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but does anyone know a decent rate to offer my neighbour's 15 year old per hour? I don't want to insult her! It's to look after my 2 girls aged 2.5 and 7.
Thanks!

Minimum wage is £3.87, but most near me (Home Counties) are paid £5 per hour. Perhaps ask her (or her mum) what she is expecting?

claudib · 05/10/2015 21:24

that's a good way of phrasing it, yes.
thanks!

In NW London I paid £7 per hour a couple of years ago.

LumelaMme · 05/10/2015 21:53

East Anglia: fiver an hour.
Possibly a bit more if after midnight.
(Can you tell DD has a bit of a business going?)

My teen dd babysits. (16 now but was doing it when 15)
She'd be very happy with £5 an hour.

Blimey I'm being ripped off!! Berkshire £10 an hour Shock

RhinestoneCowgirl · 05/10/2015 22:06

Shock stuckinahole I pay £9 ph for my babysitter but she's a registered childminder

HedgieRobin · 05/10/2015 22:43

Yes childminders/nannies are very different here too.

On average, under 16 is £5 per hour, anyone 16+ is £8 per hour, nannies and childminders etc £10 per hour.

We are in Surrey, DS1 doesn't babysit much but when he does he is £6 per hour. However, I think that is cheap around us! Our neighbour's DD, who is not yet 15, apparently has been getting £8 per hour from other neighbours!

Berkshire 16+ with DBS check and paediatric first aid £8/hr but normally ends up with £10/hr.
