first few days of au pair - need a bit of guidance

Our new au pair arrived yesterday. We've spent most of the day with her today except the evening after dinner and the kids' bedtime when she went to her room.

I have the next two days off work to help her settle in. Of course it is the school holidays and so the kids are about all day. Should I plan for me, her and the two DCs to be together the whole time? Would she want or expect some time alone? I was wondering about doing an activity with one DC and letting her look after the other (the DCs argue a lot...), would that be ok? Feeling quite unsure of the etiquette and I think she is too! From Wednesday we're expecting her to look after both the kids for most of the day.
