Would you hire an obese nanny?

Just that, really. I've had a phone interview for a new job and she would like to meet me for a face to face one. I now have a bit of crippling anxiety that as soon as she sees me she won't be interested.

It doesn't affect my work, I still run around in the garden with kids, go for a 1.5hr walk every morning; the kids eat really well with lots of fresh vegetables and I cook everything from scratch and eat with them. We talk about why it's important to develop a healthy relationship with food and about all the good things we're putting into our bodies.
Since I started with them I know they've seen me get fitter and healthier, I have a really long way to go still but I know I'll get there in the end and I'm not giving up.
But I'm so worried that as soon as a new family meets me they won't want me looking after their children, will think I'll pass on bad eating habits to them etc.
I don't know how I'll ever find a new job with this panic coming over me every interview.

Thanks for any advice.

I know this is a few weeks on but thought I would post an update. I didn't get the job mentioned in my OP but I am now due to start a new position in a few weeks with a lovely family. The job spec fits me better as well, the pay, location and hours and better too. I didn't feel at all during the interviews and trial that they thought my weight would be an issue. They got to see me getting down on the floor playing with the kids and I made sure to ask about local gyms in the area since I'd be losing my dog walking I do in current job.

Thanks for all the opinions, I appreciate the honesty! Best wishes to other nannies who this is an issue for too.

That's lovely to hear-I was following your thread with interest. I have been a childminder for 22 years and I am obese. I have (as far as I know) never had a negative reaction from prospective parents when they have come to visit. I am very well known in the area so the majority of parents won't have too much of a shock when I open the door to them when they come for a visit! The ones who contact me via Facebook or my web site might not know as I don't have any photos of myself on them. If they didn't chose me to care of their children because of my weight I wouldn't want them anyway! They certainly wouldn't deserve someone as fantastic as me caring for their children lol! Grin
Good luck for the future x

Thanks fudgesmummy; I think you have made a point I need to remind myself of. That we are good at our jobs and how great we are isn't about our size. This morning I saw the mum of my charge's friend that I babysat for last week, she said her kids told her I was the nicest babysitter they'd ever had Grin I get so caught up thinking people won't like me for how I look that I forget my good qualities! Thank you Flowers

to be fair, there have been very few comments on this thread about appearance. They have all been about worries about being unable to run around after children, or giving a bad health message, or unhealthy eating patterns.
