Sickness bug and nanny

Hi, I'm new to having a nanny. My daughter has projectile vomited tonight, she seems fine now but my son may get it. What should I do about the nanny? I don't really want to have a day off if possible as I'm new to my job. Do nannies work in these circumstances?

Perhaps you should ask the nanny!

Personally, I think ywbu to expect the nanny to work in these circumstances, but I guess some might be willing to do it. What does your contract say about looking after the children when they are sick?

Usually a nanny will care for sick children. If she gets it though you need to pay her sick leave.

The benefit of having a nanny is that they care for sick children. Agree with the PP though, that if she gets the bug, you should pay her sick pay. Children can be sick without people catching it though. Just stock up on the antibacterial soap/hand gel. Grin

I work through any illness my charges have, the benefit of having a nanny, I also work through most of any bugs I get, usually from the children!

If she is careful about hygiene, then the chances are she won't get it.

I'm not sure if I have misunderstood PP but if I was off work work due to catching something from the children, then I would expect full pay, not SSP rates!

100% agree with Callaird

I always looked after my changes when they're unwell including vomiting bugs. Have never caught something from them.

Same here - nice to give her a bit of warning beforehand if you can, she might want to bring spare clothes in case she gets puked on (been there, done that, didn't have the spare tshirt!).
