How much would you charge for the following?
Leave home at 2:45pm,
pick up from school 5 miles away,
drop another child off 6 miles further
(this child is kept for an extra half an hour, not paid, then taken home after 1st child picked up from school)
then 2 miles back to home.
child gets picked up between 16:45-17:00.
(In order for me to do this I asked the mum of the none school child if I could drop her child off at home a bit later instead of her collecting him at 3pm.I drop him off at 3:35 I said I would not charge her for the extra half hour)
She is a friend so this is why I have gone out of my way to make this poss. Please ignore this fact though.

If I understand it correctly what you are asking is how much do you charge for picking up child A from school although child B who you happen to have in the car does not come into the equation really, if I have got this correct then if you are going to this school specifically to pick child up (ie not to pick your own children up) then I would charge from the time I leave home, in your case 2.45pm and until they go home at 5pm so that would be 2 1/4 hours.
Thats just me though, others might disagree.

I don't normally charge from the time I leave home to collect from school, but as this is quite far, I think I would consider charging from 2.45pm (I know minders who always charge from the time they leave home, even if it is a local school/nursery). As FeelingOld has said, is this for a minded child only and not one of your own as well?

I would also charge until 5pm, if this is the latest they would be collected. Looks like I should just have said I agree with FeelingOld!!

I would charge my normal hourly rate for those hours (2.45 - 5.00), although I know some people charge more for schoolchildren.
