A friend of mine wants to be my after school nanny/babysitter. What should I pay her? I want to be fair.

We have agreed that she will do it for a few months and if she doesnt like it then I have time to find someone else...

How much do part time nannies charge in London?

Does she want a nanny or a babysitter? The two are very different. most live out nannies in London charge between 8-10 pounds an hour.

After school nannies in London could be £12 gross or more.

Up to you to decide how much to offer to pay and for them to decide if they want the job or not. When calculating how much you want to offer, don't forget to take into account Employers National Insurance, payroll admin and other costs.

If this is their ONLY income and if it is under £111a week, then you won't need to register as an employer. Otherwise see details from HMRC and nanny payroll companies about how taxation works.
