Nanny Share?

Hello everyone I am new here. I live in Crawley, Sussex. I am planning on going back to work in the next month. I will need someonw to talke care of my 3 year old ds weekday mornings, and then drop him off at nursery at 12:30. I will be able to pick my children up from school. I'm sure that a childminder would work for my situation, but am intriqued about the idea of a nanny share.

Can anyone tell me what exactally a nanny share is and how I would go about getting one?

thanks

Hi tikapake.
I share my nanny - but nannysharing is a very flexible definition and depends on the families involved. You can either 'time share' a nanny (nanny looks after your children on some days and other family's children on others...used for people who work part-time generally) or 'cost share' (split the cost of a nanny with another family with the nanny looking after both families' offspring on the same days.
We share the cost of our nanny. It can be quite complicated so it helps if you can be quite laid back about things eg. I pay for half the daily rate for the nanny although I only 'use' half the day most days.
In our share the nanny is based at my house before and after school time(which was part of my non-negotiable requirements) but since my children are in school/pre-school for chunks of the day the other children get to go back to their own house for quite a lot of it. The other family reimburses me for snacks/meals that their children have at my house, and we have 2 'jam jars' of money, one from each household, to pay for entrance fees, play groups etc.
The key is finding a familly who you can communicate well with and who have similar ideas about childcare to you, I think.
I found a family to share with via www.sharingcare.co.uk..and when that share ended I found another via word of mouth at my daughter's nursery.
