Terminating contract with childminder

I have decided to finish with my childminder as I have not been happy for a while now, but had to stick with her as I couldn't find an alternative. I think she knows I'm not happy anyway and will probably be expecting it, but what do I need to write in the letter? Just that I want to terminate the contract? They are due to go Wednesday, Thursday next week and Monday Tuesday the week after, so if she gets the letter on Wednesday would this cover the two week notice period? Do I have to give her a reason or would "unforeseen circumstances" cover it? Sorry for all the questions, just want to get it right :)

Unforeseen circumstances is fine. Simply state you are giving notice and the last day will be xxxxx. If you hand it over first thing wed that should be fine.

Do you need to give her a notice period as per your contract with her? Will you be doing that?
Does she know you're unhappy? What's been the problem with her?

The two week notice is probably two calendar weeks so probably won't end quite as soon as you suggest (which is 6 days).

I would give it to her on Monday (even if you're not dropping off kids) and see if she accepts notice being 2 weeks from then.
