Does anyone know how you get these done and the cost?

They aren't called CRB checks any more. They are now called DBS checks.

Are you a parent looking to get a check done on a nanny - look for an nanny agency who is nice enough to do for you.
Are you a nanny - consider Ofsted registration, or contact a nanny agency.
Are you a childminder - contact Ofsted.

There are different costs involved, roughly DBS is £55 plus £13 a year for update service. Via a nanny agency/umbrella company it can be a lot more as they will add their service fee.

SaferWorkers is able to process DBS checks for individuals subject to them becoming a member of their association.
