Hi
I am new to this so bear with me. I am due to have my first baby feb 07 and am already worrying about returning to work and finding childcare.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Nanny who or child carer in the Arborfield area who will be prepared to work term time only?

thanks

A good place to look is www.childcarelink.gov.uk. It will give you the number of your local children's information service (part of the council), who should have information on local childcarers. You can also do a search on the site for local childminders.
I think it's a bit early to start looking for a nanny as they tend to be looking for a job to start in 4-8 weeks time (as do childminders).
Nurseries on the other hand, often have waiting lists which are months long, so worth looking at as soon as possible if you think you might use one.
Good luck

Also meant to add that to look for a nanny (or just to look at other people's ads and nannys looking for work) try www.nannyjob.co.uk and www.gumtree.com

There are a few childminders in the Arborfield area, some are regular mumsnetters!

One that springs to mind is www.helenslittleangels.co.uk - may be worth contacting her to see if she could help you with term-time only care.

Also see the NannyShare board where childminders, and nannies advertise NannyShare Board

As BlueBear says, CIS can supply you with a list of childcare providers in the area (though they won't currently list nannies).

If you know what hours and days you will require childcare, it may be worth you posting that detail, as that may help us provide you with more details of suitable childcare in the area. Also, are you after childcare in your own home (nanny) or childcare at someone elses home (childminder) or even at a nursery?

Thanks nannynick I'm currently full with under 5's (I'm a childminder btw, Helen's Little Angels' ) but you never know what the situation will be by the time you require care so certainly get in touch or post here what you think your requirements are. I'm currently in Spencers Wood but am moving to Shinfield soon and am in the Arborfield area every day taking children to The Coombes nursery. These may be nearly ready to start full days by the time you need childcare, therefore freeing up my under 5's

There's also Saz73 who lives in Arborfield but I think she's full at the moment too. Again, she may have space for when you need it.

If you pop some details on here, I will ask her what her vacancy situation is.
