Hi, this is my first post so please bear with me!! Blush
I am a 23 year old nanny, I have 3 and a half years nanny experience and 2 years nursery experience previously!
I am nvq 3 qualified and ofsted registered!
I am currently being paid under £7 nph and have been told this is a low wage! Hmm
I am currently looking for a new job and I'm wondering how much I should charge per hour (net)
I would like to earn £9nph but I'm not sure if this is too much?
Thanks in advance for your help!! Grin
Xx

I have no idea about the rates in your area, however you should definitely set up pay arrangements in gross figures not in net!
I recently looked into the average amount ph I could earn in my area and asked someone from nanny tax on their online chat service who told me.
Maybe give them a go! Smile
£7ph certainly sounds low to me!

Always talk in gross. Nannies don't charge ... they get a salary. I am currently on 12 gross per hour in Surrey (which works out 35K a year). It is my first nanny job but I have a lot of qualifications and experience (I used to be a childminder) and I am older.

Thank you both for your replies!
I will give nanny tax a call thanks!!
I know nannies don't charge but I am in contact with a few potential jobs at the moment and each have asked me what my rates are, so I don't know what to say!
Thanks again xx

Why are they asking. Shouldn't they be offering a job with a salary (or range) specified.

Are jobs via agencies?

I'm recruiting in Guildford and looking to pay 11 pounds gross, 8.74 net on a standard tax code. PM me if you're interested. I have a well behaved nearly four year old and a newborn any day! Recently widowed so looking for an emotionally mature person.

SurreyNanny24 · 28/06/2014 08:17

Nannynick - one is from an agency, they had told the agency what they wanted to pay, the job was advertised in net!! Which has now confused me a little, but then asked me what my rates are! The others are private ads, but with no salary mentioned in ads, again asking what my rates are!

Grobagsforever - I would love to be able to help you but guidlford is a little to far for me to travel , thank you though!

Personally I think £9 nett so roughly £11 gross depending on hours and tax code is too much to ask for as you are young and have not a lot of experience

7nett is prob 8.50 gross. Again hard to be exact as depends on hours etc and is way over nmw

I would look at jobs 9/950 gross - so more then you are on now

'Waves to gro bag' hope you find someone soon and all goes with with birth of no 2

I pay about £10.30 gross per hour in Surrey, for 3 long days per week.
