Nanny - Cant cook, wont cook!!

Hi

Have recently employed a lovely new nanny. She has fitted in really well with our frantic family life and the kids love her. Only one problem, she's not the best cook in the world!

Our old nanny would always cook a cooked lunch for the babies which would always include at least 2 veg, and they would always snack on at least 2 pieces of fruit a day too! (I know a real Mary Poppins!!)

Our new nanny prefers to treatthem to sausage rolls or pasties bought from the bakery & crisps. They also get to drink Coke!! She has enforced the fruit though, but I want her to be a bit more hands on with preparing good healthly meals for them (am frightened they will prefer this junk food!!)

What should I do?

at not knowing how to cook sausages. I just don;t understand, how can you possibly reach adulthood without working that out!

Floating, use two tablespoons to turn them instead of a flipper thing (what are they called?!). Don't move them about too much and chop the onion finely.

Have problems keeping potato cakes together, they seem to scramble all over the place, I kind of scoop them back into form before serving. Don't know if it's too much egg or the breadcrumbs or what.

Spatula! Oh thank you! Hate it when I can't think of the words of things anymore. Onset of senility I think.

Rolling sausages.... It's easy to do two of the sides but the other two require you standing there, clamping them down in place, whilst they spit fat all over your hand. Haven't found the answer to that one yet.

Sausages are easiest cooked in the oven. No turning and you can't mess it up.

Meat balls - just form the mince into balls and put anything else you want (onions) into the sauce instead.

From reading other threads not only will nannies in 15 years time be unable to cook, but they won't be able to pick up toys or clothes either!

lol after I posted my earlier entry on this thread, our new au pair turned up her nose at frozen pizza. It isnt healthy enough for her tastes, and she cooks traditional Polish food for the children. I am aux anges
