Hi there

I just wondered if anybody can think of any other places to advertise as im newly registered and have advertised on loads of websites which i found via mumsnet, ive also put adverts in the local newsagents and post office, supermarket and library but havent had one single call yet and am now getting very desperate!
Thank you very much in advance

Carly.

Where abouts in Leeds are you because my son is nearly 8 weeks old and im still deciding what type of childcare to use when i return to work in october .

Hi Carly - how about contacting local playgroups or even speaking to other CM's? I'm in Leeds too(north) and there are a number of CM's that pick up at my kid's school - they network with each other really well and pass 'jobs' around between them (i.e. I don't have a vacancy but I know someone who does etc...). I also used to see CM's with their charges at the local playgroups - and often Mum's on maternity leave go to playgroups before they return to work. Another avenue to explore might be your local NCT post-natal group. The Leeds NCT produce a magazine called 'The Rattle' perhaps they might let you place an ad. I wouldn't have thought it would take you long to get established - all the CM's I know are in big demand. Good Luck!

do you go to the child minder groups? Also isnt there a local 'chief' childminder..co-ordinater that can help you?

Hi Carly,

I'm looking for a CM in Leeds but unfortunately not in your area (looking for someone in walking distance of Horsforth station in case anyone is wondering).

My main source of information, other than health visitors, is The Leeds Childcare Information Service .

It's worth speaking to your local nursery, esp if they have an Outreach worker. The Outreach worker at the Ireland Wood nursery has been very helpful for me in talking through options, not just pushing the nursery if that wasn't what suited me.

Have a word with the HVs as well, might as well put them to some good use! (Sorry any HVs reading this, just having one of those weeks with mine).

Best of luck.

When I needed a CM in Leeds, I just rang the council for their list - are you on it? Would your GP let you put a card up? Lots of new mums would read it there
