Anyone just about to apply or recently applied to register with Ofsted as a childminder?

I'm just about to do it and now it's supposed to only take 3 months instead of 6 I hope to be registered by July.

I was wondering if anyone else is about to or just has applied to share experiences.

Cheers x

Hi I have my registration visit tomorrow Yea !! , I did my pre reg course whilst on maternity leave from September to December 2013, I applied to ofsted in January 2014(just before the process changed requiring DBS checks beforehand) Mine and my partners DBS checks took about 7 weeks to come though and I got my phone call on Friday for my visit on Monday.
It seems like it's been ages but for me it hasn't really been that long as I've been on maternity leave, I'm soooo looking forward to starting.

When did it change from 12 weeks to 6 months? From my days working for them, some 10-11 years ago now, I recall the target for registrations was 12 weeks. Some were done in that time, some did not... various things can cause delay which are beyond the control of the applicant or Ofsted. Did the time get extended, so that more registrations were done in the target time and now the target time has been put back to what it was in 2003/04?

The difference now is you have to do cypop and first aid and DBS before you can start reg with ofsted. My assistant has just applied to upgrade to childminder at my setting and has been told she won't be registered before September despite already having first aid etc

Oh man, I had better be registered before September! Just submitted my form.
