We are looking at employing a part time nanny, will be doing 1pm -6.30pm Mon -Fri in Hampshire. They would be to collect the children up from nursery, cook a tea for them and start wind down for bed. What is the average rate of pay? Any other tips for nanny newbies?

Problem with your job is that is will be hard for someone to make up the hours/salary as would need to find a morning job - which is hard to find a 8-12/12.30 - obv need travelling time to next job - plus that parent can never be delayed as otherwise will be late for pick up

so you may need to pay a slightly higher rate to compensate

On the other hand may suit a nwoc who wants am free to do classes with her dc and be happy to not have to wake and drag her child out at 7am as any nwoc have to

Start by working out what you can afford. Then offer below that and see if you get any interest. It will not appeal to many I fear, though it may appeal to someone. So it is finding that person, someone local.

Keep in mind all the usual things that you will read about on here, such as agreeing a gross salary, providing a sufficient activities budget, giving more than statutory minimum employment rights if you can. Make the job appealing, consider whom it would appeal such as a nanny with own child. Consider limitations, such as transporting children, weekly schedule of things that have to be done. Have realistic expectations for what can be done during the time if you are expecting household duties.

I would say at around the £10 mark
