CM Club: Baby with Rash

Baby mindees mum just called to warn me baby has a rash so not to panic when i see it. Baby has sensitive skin like her mum and mum thinks she's allergic to something. I said that I need to know the rash is nothing contagious so could she see the Dr.
Do you think I did the right thing saying that she should see the Dr for advice before I take baby? Am I over-reacting? What if she can't get an appointment?
Maybe I did over-react but I have other children to worry about and I'd never forgive myself if they got something because I took baby without her being checked.
Advice please

Thanks for the reassurance She's just emailed saying she has an appointment for tonight so fingers crossed everything is ok.
The way I put it to mum is that a rash can mean something fine like an allergy but it could also mean something a lot worse so it's always best to be safe. I wasn't trying to scare the mum and she sounded fine, I just wanted it to be checked.

You can't be too careful IMO, especially with babies that can't tell you if they've got other symptoms. I did the same thing when a baby had been in contact with someone with chicken pox & then developed a rash. Looked nothing like chicken pox but I encouraged mum to see gp just to be on safe side. Turned out to be nothing but I'd rather waste the gp's time than have the child develop something awful and i'd done nothing to help.

Thanks guys. She went to Dr and it was allergy but she was fine and didn't feel it was a waste of time I've just got to pick up the prescription as the chemist was shut last night.
I'm glad I did make her go to the Dr's as I would have worried if not - rash is very obvious!
