What should I be asking?

Hi all,

We're off to see a childminder for DD on Saturday, and I was just wondering what sort of questions I should be asking? I'm new to this so not sure what to look out for. Can anyone suggest things that I should be asking about?

TIA!

she will probably show you her certificates/any profile books she has/references etc and may show you round her house.
I wouldn't worry too much, about what to ask - she will have experience of interviewing parents and will be checking you out as much as you are her! she will probably want to know about your parenting style to see if you are a good match.

General things to ask about would be who lives in her home, her policies on sickness/behaviour etc (anything that is particularly important to you) ask about her holidays, if she has local cover, what she does during the day, any groups she goes to etc.

Just don't go in there armed with a very long list as I've had many first time parents do that and try and tick off each question, whilst they are getting very flustered by the whole thing!

just relax about and see if you like her, she likes you and how she gets on with dd.

Thanks Reet, that's great advice. I did think that the main thing is to see how she is with DD, but some good suggestions there Smile
