We have always used a sitting circle where we earn and pay in token to other parents but tomorrow are using a 15 year old girl for the 1st time. She's not sat for anyone before, we have an 11, 8 and 5 year old and will be local and contactable. What's the going rate these days?!

We pay £5 an hour. Which means babysitter is onto a good earner. However she's 1 of dd's carers at Nursery and we pay that much to keep her happy because she's good and we don't want to lose her!

I pay mine £6 but have a baby and a 5 year old.

i pay £6 plus taxi home which totals about £10
at 15 she will be totally happy with that

I pay £5 per hour if it's during the day. £20 for an evening (the DSs are usually asleep by the time babysitter arrives and don't wake up generally)

suppose it depends where you live!
higher wages in London etc
i live in north west so its cheaper here

but i'm a quified childminder. nursery nurse for 13yrs before that and i get £3 per hour during the day when the children are wide awake and i provide all their meals

And im one of the annoying people that get a high rate for evening babysitting! Currently getting £8 an hour, in Berkshire. But when I was 15 I charged £3.50 an hour!

I think £5 an hour for a 15yr old is enough.

I do the odd bit of babysitting and only charge £5 per hour and I think I am slight more experienced with children that a 15 yr old

I've used a couple of local teenagers and paid them £5 ph and they've been happy. last week we used one of the nursery staff and paid her £6.

lilackaty · 05/07/2006 20:43

dmo · 05/07/2006 20:56
