Hello, I am new to this so hopefully you all be kind to me.

I wanted to ask about the nanny fees, how much should I expect for a before and after school nanny to pay for two children?

We live in south east england.

Hi, do you mean salary? I live in London and my last very experienced nanny was on around £13 per hour gross.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 22/10/2013 19:48

Sorry - very experienced should be in brackets.

hettienne · 22/10/2013 21:52

You'll probably pay about £10 an hour, less for a student, more for someone very experienced.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/10/2013 23:26

How much can you afford and work backwards

No point a nanny wanting £13 gross if you can only afford £10 gross

Also depends on area and where in se England

Outside of London, £10 gross an hour, perhaps a bit more given the part-time, term time only. Advertise the job with a salary and see who you get applying.

Look at salary over a year. Consider what happens during school holidays and any school closure days. Consider travel costs, nanny would be starting work at your home, travelling to school/schools, then coming back to your house. They may be taking children to activities either ones you have planned on ones they arrange.

Keep in mind other employer costs, such as employers national insurance, payroll admin, providing food - an after school nanny could well be having evening meal with your children.

Watching with interest too - where is a good place to advertise?

TeamSouthfields · 25/10/2013 22:51

Any reason OP?

I had a job for school age children and was employed all day. Did children's laundry, cleaned children's bedrooms, prepared evening meal, did dad's shirts and had my lunch hour when children at school.
Was then available for holidays, sick days, snow days.
