I would like a friend of mine to become my assistant. How do I go about this?
Does anyone know how this will effect how many children I can look after?

It may not affect the NUMBER of children you can care for, as there are other factors to be taken into consideration - such as Space for example.

To get the most number of children, I would have thought it's best for your friend to be a co-childminder - rather than an assistant.
I'm sure there are some regular posters on here who can confirm this.
I think then what then happens is that your friend notifys Ofsted of a change in venue - thus is re-registered such that she can have her full quota of children - subject to your childminding premises being large enough to accomodate all the children.
