Twins and certificate numbers

I have been told that I can only look after 2 children under the age of 8 as well as my own child, who is 2 years old. I thought that usually the numbers are higher than this?

Also, I have had an enquiry to look after twins, 6 month old. Obviously, those two and my own would be plenty and I want to take them on but my inspector has said that as I am newly registered and do not have experience looking after twins, I will probably not be able to get special permission for this. Should this not be up to the mum - she is really desperate for childcare! And how do you get the experience without being given a change to start? Does this seem unfair to you?

I also have a two bedroom flat, it is quite spacious, I have a living room and a playroom and a garden so not sure why numbers are low. Do you know if it is easy enough to get a variation on your certificate, or will it take months and months like actually getting your certificate in the first place!

parents of twins are often desperate to find a good childminder - not many seem to be able to take them. Try appealing and see if you can get permission - to at least a trial period.

Thanks everyone, think I will lose them though as mum needs childcare to start asap and not sure how long an amendment to the certificate will take. Also, inspector pretty much said that will not be able to get permission due to lack of experience as have only just registered. Is a shame as I was looking forward to having the twins and don't have any other mindees sorted out. Back to square one for me and the mum then I guess
