Hi,

I use a cm 4 days a week for pick up from school she has them until 6 and gives them tea. She is wonderful.

I am finishing one job on July 5th and starting the next on September 2nd (whoop!). I would normally pay the cm 50% on days when I don't use her, but could really do with standing her down for this extended period to save on pennies. Do you think I will lose the boys' slot?

Tia

Eeesh, it's tempting to save the money isn't it, but if she is wonderful she might be snapped up. Do you know what you would do if she was? E.g. Have you looked into other CMs in your area?

thanks - yes she will be - I think she will be snapped up so that's my answer isn't it?

Talk to her explain your dilemma & see what she says - she might like to have the summer hols off if she's got her own children & therefore only ask for a % of fees to hold the place but if she relies on the income/demand is high you may just have to accept it to keep her.

As a CM it would piss me off.
I've just had someone give notice to me. The kids finish in 4 weeks so no pay for me over the summer. Hmm
I don't think I'd have minded so much if they'd finished in September as I have new children starting.
If they came back in September wanting me I'd be inclined to tell them to find someone else.
