just had a phonecall for an 8 yr old boy to be picked up from school 3 days a week and taken to his neighbours house. and also for me to have in holidays.

im thinking along the lines of what if something happens to him while he's at the neighbours house, can i be accused of it happening b4 he got there or am i just being completely irrational as im only going to be with him for about 15mins per day and in that time i will be walking/ driving.

What happens if the neighbour isn't there

Can you do a self sign (for the child) sort of time he arrived, time he was dropped off

If you are worried about this I would have some kind of hand over book whereby the neighbour signs to say what time you dropped him off and if say he has a bruise on his leg you could put this in the book too (or in the appropritate section of accident book it you can carry it with you)
I would also charge for a minimum of 1 hour. If you get an enquiry at a later date asking for another school pick up whereby they want you to care for a child until say 5pm, would you have to turn them down due to picking up this boy?

How would the attendance register work - Would the neighbour sign it daily when you drop him off?

I don't think you're being irrational I'd be thinking the same as you.

Sorry not much help hopefully someone will be along later to help

sorry cross post

i did say that if someone else came along id prob have to give notice of 1 mth but she said she would pay me double my hourly rate to cover costs. she hasnt called me back yet so im assuming she probably found someone that didnt have any doubts. i just wasnt sure about it but now i think about it i think it would work out well because the only child i have now goes at 2.30 on wed thu and fri so wouldnt clash.

should i call her? she hasnt rang me back yet? i could be a bit more positive........

rang her back she's now saying she only want school pick ups and not the holiday care as she's found a place that just does holiday care right next to where she works.

but she'll call me back when her neighbour gets back to her and lets her know if its ok for me to drop him off at 3.40pm if not who knows she might want me to have him for longer and drop him home.
