Hi, I have a 2 1/2 yr mindee that comes to me 3 days a week. Whenever I go out and other CM's/parents talk to him or me he starts crying and wanting Mummy and Daddy and gets really upset. It's getting to a point now when another CM mentioned to me about other parents at school have been discussing me and the mindee ie is he happy etc. But when we are at my house he does play happy and is chattie.

I'm getting to a point now where it's getting embaressing to go out with him.......am I wrong in feeling this and worrying about my reputation as a CM and any advice?

Sorry to whinge.

Your email prompted me to read your thread - poor you! :( Do you think they could just be shy? Some children get nervous with the attention of being talked to, quite normal (I think).

I can understand why it's bothering you though. It's horrible to think people are judging us based on their behaviour with certain things. My oldest mindee is always as good as gold with me and if not, will always behave when I tell her to and say sorry. HOWEVER, whenever new people come round for something (i.e. Ofsted inspector Grin) she's completely different! I.e. Inspection Day - kept saying 'can we have telly on, can we have telly on, can we.........you get the message! Wink). I could have died as we usually only have it on whilst I prepare lunch and dinner each day and she knows this. KIDS! Grin

I think it's to do with being a only child and sorry to say spoilt!!! Upto a month ago he was never left with anyone except mum and dad (and no interaction with other children of his own age just mainly adults.)

Know what you mean about the Ofsted inspector, one of my after school kids really played up on my inspection day ....but Ofsted did see the funny side of it!

Hopefully he will settle down soon, it's only been a month Wink

I'll listen for the screams when I come to nursery this morning but not sure whether to say hello if I'm likely to make him cry? Grin

Wouldn't worry he's not with me today, parents phoned and he's got the runs !!

But you'll probably hear me as my DDS thinks he's the guy from lazy town at the moment :o
