Do I need to inform Ofsted that I will be having an au pair whilst minding?

Just that really.
She will be with us for the end of term and summer hols and I'm likely to have some minded children at the same time. Do I need to register her as an assistant even though she will be only supporting my own two children?
Hope someone can help otherwise I'll need to ring and check.
Thanks Smile

Anyone over the age of 16 living in your home needs to be CRB checked whether working with minded children or not, difficult to do for foreigners, but you can get a police check done from their country.

The au pair agency will normally have done this for you in your finders fee, mine had.

I think I probably would register her as your assistant as I imagine she would be likely to have some interaction with the minded children (unless you have an absolutely vast home!). As mindingalongtime has said, she will need whatever the CRB check is called these days anyway, so it's hardly any more trouble to register her as your assistant and will cover you in case somebody complains about her helping you with the group of children in some way which you don't currently envisage. You won't be able to let her supervise any children other than your own unless she is First Aid qualified,

Thank you very much. Yes a police check from her country is being processed.
Ha! Wish I had a vast home, shall register her as my assistant then.

Many thanks.
