The parent agrees with the employer to receive part of their salary in the form of vouchers. They either receive paper vouchers which you send off to claim your payment or the parent orders e-vouchers which means they can pay direct to your bank account.

I have always told parents I will accept vouchers but any scheme I've not used before will be on a trial basis initially. Late payment fees of £5 per child per day are charged if payment hasn't cleared by the agreed date, regardless of whether the parent or the voucher scheme is at fault.

I haven't heard of any voucher scheme problems from the point of view of the childminder. Its not easy for parents to work out whether the benefits are worth the sacrifice (they need to check out effects on pension, maternity pay etc)

I use Busybees - I registered the money appeared in my bank account - it's nice and it works
